    There's a Map!

So, as a scifi/fantasy fan, I think this is SUPER cool....the talented team at Alloy made a MAP of Atalanta! Seriously, seeing a visual representation of my made-up world has got to be one of the neatest things to happen so far on my publishing journey. Makes it feel so REAL. I mean - look! There's a map! :-D

I hope this will come in handy as you read Rebel Wing and Storm Fall! I believe the map will be included in Storm Fall when it releases, hopefully also in Rebel Wing as well, though I'm not 100% certain about that.

At any rate, what do you think? Is it how you pictured Atalanta? I hope it helps you visualize Aris's world!

    Also, happy Friday!

For those who read Shattered Veil...

Hello lovely readers! I have a message for those of you who read Shattered Veil before its Rebel Wing update. In the revision process with Alloy, a few things changed. Most of it was a question of streamlining and tightening, but there were a couple changes that may make Storm Fall a little confusing to folks who read the original indie version. So, here are a couple things to look out for! Of course, I recommend checking out the fully edited and updated Rebel Wing, so you don't miss anything. But if you can't, here are just a couple things to keep in mind:

    1) If you read Shattered Veil, the first chapter of Storm Fall is going to feel eerily familiar. Rebel Wing ends a chapter earlier than Shattered Veil did!! Please note that while it may seem very similar, there ARE some differences to the old last chapter of Shattered Veil and first chapter of Storm Fall, so don't skip it assuming it's exactly the same. ;-)

    2) A few of the characters' names changed:

    ~ Orvin = Otto

    ~ Ilom = Elom

    ~ Aris's mom = Krissa

    ~ Tress = Theo

If you have any questions, notice something you think should be added to this list, or are confused about anything, please leave a comment here or email me using the contact form on the right.

Cheers! And for those of you requesting review copies on NetGalley (yup, Storm Fall is up on NetGalley!) I hope you enjoy it!

    The Big Reveal!!

At long last, I can share with you the title AND cover for the sequel to REBEL WING! I AM SO EXCITED!! I think I might actually love this cover MORE than Rebel Wing's, if that's possible. I love the ominous feel of the sky, and the...oh well, I don't want to ruin it. ;-)

Today I’m excited to be part of Shari Arnold’s book blitz for KATE TRIUMPH, her first novel!

I was fortunate enough to meet Shari through Absolute Write a few years ago and we became fast friends and critique partners, even meeting in person not that long afterwards.

I am so so excited that her book KATE TRIUMPH is finally out in the world! I love this book: there’s so much action and swoony romance, and some great family dynamics and intrigue. It’s amazing and you should totally read it! Here’s a link to grab your copy:

SO. In honor of KATE TRIUMPH’s release, I’ve invited Shari over to answer some questions!

    Hey Shari! **waves**

    Shari: **waves back**

Can you tell us a little bit about what inspired you to write KATE TRIUMPH? When you and I met, you’d already written KATE. I’d love to hear how it came to be!

It was the weirdest thing, actually. The name came at me one night, like literally entered my thoughts and didn’t leave until I gave it my undivided attention. Once I had her name I just kind of ran with it. I knew she had to be amazing with a name like that. And I had to know the rest of her story.

Very cool! So, one of the first things we did when we became online writer friends was cheer each other on during Nanowrimo (along with our writer buddy Susanne Winnacker!). And seeing as it’s November and all…have you participated in Nano since then? What’s your typical first-draft writing process look like?

Every year I think about doing Nano and every year it never happens. When I start a first draft I spend a lot of time getting the mood and the “feeling” just right, and because of that it takes me awhile to write a first draft. I spend a lot of time listening to music, staring out the window and pretty much living inside my head, but once I’ve got just the right feel it takes off from there.

So speaking of your writing process, what are you working on now that KATE TRIUMPH is out in the world?

Well… I’m actually working on the next KATE TRIUMPH. Her story must live on! At least that’s what she keeps telling me. And I’m also planning on my next release, NEVERLAND, which is a re-imagining of Peter Pan set in Seattle. NEVERLAND will release in the early spring.

I know you’ve had a pretty circuitous, sometimes heart-breaking road to publication. Would you like to share a little of your story, and maybe some tips for folks pursuing the writing dream?

There have definitely been moments when the rejections have gotten to me, when the process of getting a book out into the world has made me second-guess my writing career. But when you believe in a story you should never take no for an answer. Tracy, you know this as well as I. When there’s a story to tell, and you believe in it wholeheartedly, you stop listening to the nos. There will always be nos. Find a way to move around them.

And, finally, let’s talk a little more about KATE! What’s your favorite element of the book? Any teasers you want to share?

I love the relationship between Kate and her father. Their scenes were a lot of fun to write. But the scenes between Kate and Zack were what kept me writing. Romance is always the most difficult and the most fun to write. It also makes me blush sometimes. =)

Thanks so much for joining me today!

    Cover Love: KATE TRIUMPH!

It gives me incredible pleasure to show off the cover of Shari Arnold's amazing novel KATE TRIUMPH. Shari's been my critique partner for nearly five years now and her stuff is AWESOME. I am SO excited that Kate and her story are making their way into the world!

    So, without further ado.........

Normal is so overrated. At least that's what seventeen-year-old Kate Triumph tells herself everyday. But the truth is she lives in constant fear that someone will discover how not normal she really is. With her startling speed and her unusual ability to heal, Kate believes she's something of a freak.

    Then Andrew Shore arrives.

He claims he's her father, sticks around for a few days and leaves her a plane ticket. “Come to Mercer Island,” he says. “Give me a chance to get to know you.” Soon Kate is floundering in a world of new: new address, new car, new high school and, of course, new father. Not to mention Zack, her intriguing new neighbor, who makes her want to abandon her steadfast rule of never allowing anyone to get too close. But when she discovers someone is trying to kill her, life for Kate gets a bit more complicated. And a lot less normal.

AMAZING cover, right?? And it's an AMAZING story. You can add it to your Goodreads shelf here and you can preorder it here!! It comes out on October 16th!! YAY!!! I promise, you are going to want to read this book. <3 Congrats Shari!
